The painting the "Power of Music" was an exhibit of the special exhibition "The Power of Art" for the Upper Austrian Provincial Exhibition in Steyr 2021 in Lamberg Castle. The depiction shows the conductor Otto Dessoff at the opening concert on the occasion of the World Exhibition 1873 in the Golden Hall of the Vienna Musikverein with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra on May 4. The program focused on works by Franz Schubert.

Seen in this light, music exerts tremendous power - in our thinking and feeling. Is the term "power" in this context too theatrical, or even reprehensible? The power of feelings, the power of possible decisions, the power of spontaneity - triggered by music. Joy and sadness, kindness and anger, energy and powerlessness - or melancholy and bliss. Evoked by a variety of sounds, melodies and rhythms.
